Fit4-Physio is proud to announce that we are sponsoring the two UK Gravity Enduro Mountain Bike Scholarship Riders for the 2014 season.
Gravity Enduro mountain bike racing is a relatively new form of the sport and is a mix between cross-country and downhill racing. Racers are timed on 5 or 6 downhill special stages whilst having to make it back up to the start of the next stage in a fixed time under their own steam.
The scholars chosen for the 2014 season are Leigh Johnson, Neath – South Wales and Joe Harrison, Flint – Cheshire.
We have already started working with the scholars to screen them for athletic competency, movement patterns and injury risk. This lead to constructing a conditioning and mobility program for the scholars to follow in preparation for the forthcoming season to help reduce injury risk and optimise performance.
Lucy Follett (projects and consultancy with Fit4-Physio) has devised an online monitoring tool that the scholars fill in on a daily basis which essentially monitors their training volume and intensity (load). This will enable us to provide training program advice and increase load appropriately and safely on their journey through the 2014 season.
This proactive approach to aid performance and reduce injury risk forms part of the overall support network afforded to the scholars for the 2014 season. As part of the Physio sponsorship package for the scholars, Fit4-Physio will also provide free reactive Physio treatment to the riders from our Sheffield base and at races throughout the calendar should injury occur.
We are proud to be working alongside some fantastic sponsorship partners to help these athletes fulfill their huge potential in the world of Enduro Racing.
If any Mountain Bikers and Enduro racers out there want to know more about how Fit4-Physio can help you, don’t hesitate to contact us.
